Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you visit Gonoma.xyz (“Gonoma”, “we”, “us” or “our”) and use the Name Combiner & Generator, and what choices you have.

Gonoma is run by the Gonoma team. We have tried to keep this policy short and in plain English. If anything is unclear, please contact us.

By using Gonoma, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

Information you may provide

Names you enter in the Name Combiner

When you type names into the Name Combiner, they are processed by code running in your own browser to create the combinations you see. These names are not sent to our servers, stored by us or shared with anyone. When you close or reload the page, the names you typed are gone unless you saved a result as a favorite (see Cookies and local storage).

Messages you send us

If you contact us using the form on our Contact page, the form opens your own email app with your message ready to send. Nothing is sent until you press send in your email app. Whether you use the form or email us directly, we receive:

• your name, if you include it,
• your email address,
• the subject and content of your message, and
• anything else you choose to include, such as screenshots or device details for a bug report.

Please don’t include sensitive personal information in your message.

What we don’t ask for

Gonoma has no user accounts, sign-ups, newsletters or payments. We don’t ask for your address, phone number, date of birth or payment details.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, Gonoma is hosted on a web server. When your browser requests a page, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information in server logs, such as:

• your IP address,
• your browser type and version, and your operating system,
• the page you requested, and the date and time of the request, and
• the referring page, if you followed a link to reach us.

This information is used to deliver the website, keep it secure and troubleshoot problems. We don’t use it to identify you personally or build a profile about you.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

• provide and run the website,
• read and reply to messages you send us,
• investigate and fix bugs or website issues you report,
• consider your feedback and suggestions to improve Gonoma,
• protect the website against abuse, spam and security threats, and
• comply with legal obligations where required.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We don’t use it for marketing, and we don’t send newsletters.

If you’re in a region that requires a legal basis for processing, such as the EU or UK, we rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure, working website and responding to people who contact us, or on steps taken at your request when you ask us something.

Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small text files a website can store in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature that lets a website save small amounts of information on your device.

Cookies

Gonoma does not set its own cookies for normal visitors. We don’t use cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising.

Our website runs on WordPress. WordPress sets cookies only if you log in to the website’s admin area, which normal visitors don’t do.

Local storage for your favorites

When you star a name in the Name Combiner, it is saved in your browser’s local storage so your favorites are still there next time you visit. This information:

• stays on your device and is never sent to us,
• contains only the names you chose to save, and
• can be deleted at any time using the “Clear favorites” button, or by clearing your browser’s site data.

Analytics

Gonoma does not currently use analytics or visitor-tracking tools. We don’t track how you use the Name Combiner or which names you create.

Advertising

Gonoma does not currently display advertising, and we don’t share information with advertisers.

Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services to run Gonoma. Each has its own privacy policy.

• Web hosting: our hosting provider stores and serves our website and may process server log information as described above.
• WordPress: our website is built with the WordPress software, which runs on our hosting.
• Email: messages you send us are received through our email provider. Your own email provider will also handle the message you send.

Our pages use your device’s built-in fonts and don’t load fonts, scripts or images from third-party services for the Name Combiner to work.

We only share information with these providers as needed for them to provide their service to us, or when required by law.

Data retention

• Names entered in the Name Combiner: not retained by us at all. They exist only in your browser while the page is open.
• Favorites: kept in your own browser until you clear them. We never receive them.
• Emails and messages: kept for as long as needed to respond and follow up, and then deleted within 12 months, unless we need to keep them longer for legal reasons.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period, then deleted or overwritten automatically.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we handle. The website is served over a secure HTTPS connection, access to our website administration and email accounts is restricted and password-protected, and we keep our software up to date.

Because the Name Combiner works in your browser, the names you enter are never transmitted to us, which removes the risk of them being exposed on our side.

No website or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If you have a security concern, please contact us.

Children’s privacy

Gonoma is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). The Name Combiner doesn’t require or collect personal information, so children can use it without providing any.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, for example by email, please contact us and we will delete it.

Gonoma may contain links to other websites. We aren’t responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. Please review the privacy policy of any website you visit.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you may have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you,
• correct information that is inaccurate,
• delete your personal information,
• object to or restrict how we use it,
• receive a copy of your information in a portable format, and
• withdraw consent, where we rely on consent.

In practice, the only personal information we are likely to hold about you is an email you sent us. To make a request, contact us from the email address you used. We may need to confirm it’s you before acting on the request. We aim to respond within 30 days.

We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Your favorites are stored only on your device, so you can view or delete them yourself at any time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or services to Gonoma. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how your information is handled, we’ll make that clear on this page.
