Cookie Policy
Effective date: 28 September 2026 Last updated: 28 September 2026
The short version
- Gonoma does not set cookies for normal visitors.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or third-party cookies.
- If you star a name, it’s saved in your browser’s local storage so you can find it again. It stays on your device and you can delete it any time.
- If this ever changes, we’ll update this page and ask for consent where required.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website can save in your browser when you visit it. The next time you visit, the website can read those files to remember something, such as whether you’re logged in or a setting you chose.
Websites can also use similar browser features, such as local storage, to save small amounts of information on your device. In this policy, when we talk about cookies we also mean these similar technologies, unless we say otherwise.
Cookies can be set by the website you’re visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by other companies whose services the website uses (“third-party cookies”). They can last only until you close your browser (“session cookies”) or remain for a set time (“persistent cookies”).
Why cookies may be used
In general, websites use cookies and similar technologies to:
- make the website work properly and securely,
- remember your choices and preferences,
- understand how visitors use the website, through analytics, and
- show advertising and measure how well it performs.
Gonoma currently uses browser storage for only one of these purposes: remembering the names you save as favorites. The sections below explain exactly what is and isn’t used.
What Gonoma uses
Gonoma does not set any cookies for normal visitors. We don’t use tracking cookies, analytics cookies or advertising cookies, and using the Name Combiner doesn’t place any cookies on your device.
We use one local storage entry, and only if you choose to save a favorite:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
gonoma_favorites |
Local storage (first-party) | Remembers the names you starred as favorites in the Name Combiner. It is created only when you star a name, stays on your device and is never sent to us. | Until you clear it |
At a glance:
| Category | Status on Gonoma |
|---|---|
| Essential cookies for visitors | Not used |
| Functional storage (saved favorites) | Used only if you save a favorite |
| Analytics cookies | Not used |
| Advertising cookies | Not used |
| Third-party cookies | Not used |
Essential cookies
Essential (or “strictly necessary”) cookies are those a website needs to work, for example to keep someone logged in or to protect a form from abuse. They can’t usually be switched off in the website’s own settings.
Gonoma doesn’t need any essential cookies for visitors. You can use every public page and the full Name Combiner with cookies blocked.
Our website is built with WordPress. WordPress sets its own login cookies (such as wordpress_logged_in_, wordpress_test_cookie and wp-settings-) only for site administrators who sign in to manage the website. Normal visitors never log in, so these cookies are not set for you.
If we introduce a service that needs essential cookies, for example a security service that protects the website from attacks, we will list it here.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help website owners understand how people use a site, such as which pages are visited most or how visitors find it.
Gonoma does not currently use analytics cookies or any analytics service. We don’t track how you use the Name Combiner or which names you create.
If we decide to use an analytics service in the future, we will update this policy to name the service and the cookies it uses, and, where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before any analytics cookies are set.
Advertising cookies
Advertising cookies are typically set by ad networks to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and, in some cases, show ads based on your interests.
Gonoma does not currently display advertising and does not use advertising cookies.
If we introduce advertising in the future, we will update this policy to explain which ad providers are used, what their cookies do and how you can control them, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are set by a company other than the website you’re visiting, usually through embedded content such as videos, maps, social media buttons, analytics or ads.
Gonoma currently doesn’t embed third-party content or load third-party tracking scripts, so no third-party cookies are set when you visit. Our pages use your device’s built-in fonts rather than loading fonts from an external service.
If you follow a link from Gonoma to another website, that website may set its own cookies. Those cookies are controlled by that website, not by us, so please check its cookie or privacy policy.
How you can control cookies
Because Gonoma doesn’t use non-essential cookies, we don’t show a cookie consent banner. You remain in control of your browser, and you can:
- Delete your saved favorites at any time using the “Clear favorites” button in the Name Combiner, or remove single names by pressing the remove button next to each one.
- Clear Gonoma’s site data in your browser’s settings. This removes the
gonoma_favoritesentry and anything else stored for the site. - Block or delete cookies for all websites, or for specific websites, in your browser’s settings.
- Use private or incognito browsing, which clears cookies and site data when you close the window. Favorites saved in private mode won’t be remembered.
Blocking cookies won’t affect how the Name Combiner works. If you block all site data, including local storage, the tool will still generate names, but favorites may not be remembered between visits.
Browser cookie settings
Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies and site data. The exact menu names can vary between browser versions, but you’ll usually find the settings here:
| Browser | Where to find cookie settings |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome (desktop) | Settings → Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Delete browsing data |
| Google Chrome (Android) | Menu (⋮) → Settings → Site settings, or Privacy and security → Delete browsing data |
| Mozilla Firefox | Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data |
| Safari (Mac) | Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data |
| Safari (iPhone and iPad) | Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data (on newer versions, Safari is under Settings → Apps) |
| Microsoft Edge | Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data |
For other browsers, check the browser’s help pages for “cookies” or “site data”. To remove only Gonoma’s data, look for a list of websites in these settings and delete the entry for gonoma.xyz.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features, analytics, advertising or other services that use cookies. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where required, ask for your consent before any new non-essential cookies are used.
